Live at the Lighthouse: Comedy at The Anchor Bar, Newcastle

We’re returning to our spiritual home at The Anchor Bar, Newcastle — now home to the brand-new Live at the Lighthouse, an intimate performance space bringing top-tier comedy, music, and arts right to the heart of the town.

To celebrate, we’re kicking things off with an incredible night of laughter featuring some of Northern Ireland’s finest comedic talent.

Tim McGarry is the host of BBC NI’s The Blame Game, star of Give My Head Peace, and co-presenter of The Long and the Short Of It. A household name and one of the sharpest wits in the country, Tim’s trademark mix of satire, storytelling, and Northern Irish humour always guarantees a full house of laughs.

Colin Murphy is a Belfast-based stand-up, writer, actor, and presenter who has been a fixture on TV screens across Ireland for over two decades. Best known as a regular panellist on The Blame Game, Colin honed his craft at The Empire Laughs Back and Queen’s Comedy Club, where he was resident host for over 20 years. Expect razor-sharp observations and explosive energy from one of the true masters of Irish comedy.

Terry McHugh, hailing from North Belfast, is a dynamic and engaging voice on the stand-up scene. With his quick wit, relatable storytelling, and knack for finding the absurd in the everyday, Terry has built a reputation as one of the most entertaining and authentic comedians on the circuit.

Compère for the evening is Sean Hegarty — comedian, author, actor, theatre producer, podcaster, and our very own Shindig regular. Sean’s sharp improvisation, quickfire gags, and effortless crowd work have made him one of the best comperes in the business.

Join us for a night packed with laughter, storytelling, and unforgettable live comedy — right where it all began.
